Make Art Save Art Scholarship:  To apply, create and submit your own visual artwork and a short essay showcasing the importance of art education.  The artist that has the most shares on Facebook and Twitter will be entered to win a $1,000 scholarship.

Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest:  Applicants may enter photographs in any of the five categories:  Altered images, Americana, the Natural World, People and Travel.  Winners earn $500 and their work printed in Smithsonian magazine and work exhibited in the Smithsonian Institution.

Stephen J. Brady STOP Hunger Scholarship: Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to your community by performing unpaid volunteer services impacting hunger in the U.S. within the last 12 months.

Give a Spit Video Scholarship: Sign up online or text spit to 38383 to sign up for the “Be a Match” registry.  A cheek swab can potentially save the life of a blood cancer patient.  Everyone who signs up will be entered to win one of two scholarships.

“Financial Connects” Financial Literacy Scholarship Award:  Create an original two to three minute video or interactive game that promotes financial literacy and correlates with the Department of Education’s financial literacy standards.  A one-paragraph proposal is required with the submission.  Participants may be individuals or a team associated with a nonprofit or school.

Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship:  Submit a 250-word personal statement.

For: High school students, college students and graduate students who are legal U.S. residents.

Scholarship Amount: $1,000.  The award may be used for tuition, room and board, books, or any related educational expense.

America’s Best Blogging Scholarship:  Write a 500-600 word blog post that addresses the following topic:  Deifne the single most important political issue of the approaching presidential election.  Explain not only what the issue is, but also why and how you propose we come to a solution that benefits the majority.

Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) Scholarship: To apply, submit the JVS online application including a letter of recommendation, essay, transcript and some additional supplemental materials.

Deadline:  March 12, 2012

For: Jewish full-time students at least 16 years old who are US citizens or permanent legal residents and have resided in CA for a minimum of 2 years.  Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.7 and demonstrated financial need.

Scholarship Amount: Based on need, scholarships range from $1,000-$5,000
